The De Colores Mural at Cesar Chavez Plaza

In the very near future, and with the support of our community, there will be a giant ceramic mural greeting everyone at the entrance to the beautiful community building at Cesar Chavez Plaza. The mural will celebrate the contribution of Cesar Chavez to four major areas associated with his life (agriculture, shelter, health and work). Intertwined in the mural will be symbols of community, cooperatives, and peace. This mural, designed and created by Susan Shelton* is one of the largest in California celebrating Cesar’s life.

Twin Pines Cooperative Foundation (TPCF) is conducting a fundraising campaign to create the Cesar Chavez Resident’s Fund (CCRF) as a permanent endowment; the annual income will be donated to support the activities of the residents of Cesar Chavez Plaza. The CCRF will be hosted by TPCF which manages funds for over 30 different cooperatives and nonprofits.

As President of Twin Pines Cooperative Foundation I will personally donate $5,000 in matching funds for each personal or organizational donation made of $500 and above. The name of every donor above $100 will be honored on a ceramic plaque at the entrance to the Cesar Chavez Plaza Community Building. Large donations can be paid in installments. However, any donation is welcome and all donations will be recognized on this site.

Part of the special program at Cesar Chavez Plaza is that there is a professional on site Social Service Coordinator who is the case worker for the special needs residents. The Social Services Coordinator position is supported by a grant from Yolo County.

• Art Writing Workshop conducted by Yolo CANVAS a program of Yolo NAMI
