About Cesar Chavez
Cesar Chavez (1927-1993) committed his life to the needs of farm workers
in particular and people in general. He wished to uplift people wherever
he could to make a difference in jobs, healthcare, housing and economic
development. He stayed in Davis on many an occasion on occasions when he
had to visit the State Capital. He would be proud that his name was given
to a community in Davis that will be home to the low income people he cared
for the most."
The walls of his office in La Paz (United Farm Worker Headquarters
) are lined with hundreds of books ranging from philosophy, economics,
cooperatives, and unions, to biographies on Gandhi and the Kennedys'.
He believed that, "The end of all education should surely be service
to others," a belief that he practiced until his untimely death.
